There is something inherently compelling about a tile that carries the mood of a storm at sea, and the Sabbia Collection Storm Blue Matte Ceramic Tile by Bella Glass Tiles delivers exactly that energy. Deep, atmospheric, and full of character, this 2.5" x 8" ceramic tile brings a richly layered blue tone to any wall installation. The matte finish softens the color beautifully, diffusing light rather than reflecting it and giving the tile a tactile, artisan quality that glazed alternatives simply cannot replicate. Whether you are designing a bold bathroom feature wall, a striking kitchen backsplash, or a sophisticated commercial interior, the SBB3236 is the kind of tile that transforms a surface into a statement.
Why Customers Choose the Sabbia Storm Blue Tile
Blue tiles cover a wide spectrum, from the palest powder blue to the deepest navy. Storm Blue occupies the compelling middle ground: moody and rich without feeling heavy, distinctive without being difficult to design around. Here is why it continues to resonate with homeowners and designers alike:
- A matte finish that elevates the color: Matte finish tiles have surged in popularity because they lend an interior a more sophisticated, considered quality than surfaces with a high gloss. On a deep blue tile, the matte finish adds depth and dimension, and the color appears to shift subtly depending on the light, creating a live, dynamic surface rather than a flat, static one.
- V4 variation for a truly unique installation: This tile carries a V4 Substantial Variation rating, meaning each tile features meaningful differences in tone, shade, and surface texture. The result is a wall that looks genuinely handcrafted, and no two installations are exactly alike. That variation is precisely what gives the Storm Blue tile its visual richness and artisan appeal.
- A format that works with creative layouts: At 2.5" x 8", this tile sits between a traditional mosaic and a standard subway tile in scale. That proportionally slim, elongated shape lends itself to a wide variety of installation patterns, including horizontal brick bond, vertical stack, herringbone, or a basketweave arrangement, and each produces a distinct aesthetic effect.
- Ceramic construction for reliable everyday performance: Ceramic tile is a proven, time tested wall material that resists moisture, cleans easily, and holds up reliably in both residential and commercial environments. The 8mm thickness provides solid installation stability, and the 1/16" (2mm) recommended grout joint keeps the finished surface looking precise and intentional.
- Part of the considered Sabbia Collection: The Sabbia Collection by Bella Glass Tiles is designed with cohesion in mind. Selecting Storm Blue means you are working within a curated design framework, and a tile that has been thoughtfully developed to complement other pieces in the range for layered, coordinated installations.

Design Ideas: Where Storm Blue Makes Its Mark
The depth and versatility of the Sabbia Storm Blue Matte Ceramic Tile make it a compelling choice across a broad range of spaces and design styles. Here are some of the most effective applications:
Bathroom Feature Wall and Shower Surrounds
Blue and water belong together, and Storm Blue in particular brings the drama of a coastal storm to a bathroom in the best possible way. Use it as a floor to ceiling feature wall in a walk in shower, as an accent behind a freestanding tub, or as a striking backdrop to a floating vanity. The matte finish pairs exceptionally well with brushed chrome, unlacquered brass, or matte black fixtures, and the V4 tile variation means no two showers will look exactly the same. White or light gray grout keeps the look clean and modern, while a dark charcoal grout leans into the moody, dramatic quality of the color.
Kitchen Backsplash
A storm blue backsplash is an increasingly popular choice for kitchens that want to move beyond the expected white or neutral subway tile. Against white cabinetry, Storm Blue reads as bold and confident. Against natural wood or dark cabinet fronts, it settles into a more layered, sophisticated palette. The 2.5" x 8" format works particularly well in a herringbone pattern behind a range, as the slim tiles and the diagonal layout together create a focal point with real visual energy. The matte finish also means fingerprints and water spots are far less visible than they would be on a surface with a glossy finish, which is a genuine practical advantage in a kitchen environment.
Entryways, Hallways and Powder Rooms
Smaller spaces are often where the most daring design decisions pay off best. A powder room or entryway tiled in Storm Blue makes an immediate, memorable impression, intimate enough for the deep color to feel enveloping rather than overwhelming. The V4 variation adds texture and movement to the walls, making what might otherwise be a transitional space feel like a destination in its own right.
Commercial and Hospitality Interiors
The Sabbia Storm Blue tile is equally at home in commercial settings. Its artisan quality matte finish and rich, layered color make it a natural fit for restaurant feature walls, boutique hotel bathrooms, spa interiors, and upscale retail environments. The tile photographs exceptionally well, which is an important consideration for spaces that rely on social media and visual marketing, and its durability as a ceramic wall tile ensures it holds up beautifully in high use commercial contexts.
Installation Guidance and Dry Layout Recommendation
Given the V4 Substantial Variation rating of this tile, a dry layout is highly recommended before beginning installation. Laying the tiles out across the wall surface prior to setting allows you to distribute the natural shade and tonal variation evenly across the installation, preventing clusters of similar toned tiles and ensuring the finished surface has the balanced, dynamic appearance that makes this tile so distinctive.
Use a 1/16" (2mm) grout joint as recommended, and consult the TCNA Handbook for installation specifications appropriate to your specific project conditions.
Ordering and Coverage Guide
Each box contains 38 tiles and covers 5.38 square feet. To calculate how many boxes your project requires, divide your total wall area in square feet by 5.38. Always add a 10% overage for cuts, waste, dry layout, and spare tiles for future repairs, and this is particularly important with a V4 variation tile where future dye lot matching cannot be guaranteed.
Example: A 30 sq ft bathroom feature wall requires approximately 6 boxes (30 divided by 5.38 equals 5.57, rounded up to 6, plus 10% overage equals 6 to 7 boxes recommended).
Important Notes
Due to natural variations in installation methods, grout selection, lighting conditions, photography, and monitor display settings, the final installed appearance may differ significantly from the images shown. As with all V4 rated tiles, Bella Glass Tiles strongly recommends that purchasing decisions are not made solely based on digital images. Ordering a physical sample before committing to your full project quantity is always recommended. This tile is sold in box quantities only.

Read this Blog Post“Storm Blue is a color that brings a sense of calm while still making a statement. What is your Normal Shipping Time On this Product?
This is a good question, all of our items has this displayed at the top of the product page. There are varying lead times. Most of our items ship out in 3 - 5 business days plus transit time. There are a few brands that do take a little longer to ship out like Anatolia Soho Mosaics, Onix Mosaico, Soho Studio, Mosaic Bliss and those are 7-10 business days plus transit time (these brands mostly ship by common carrier). We strive to ship out much sooner, but we do accommodate shipping times with holidays and factory shutdowns. Once your order does ship we will forward you the tracking number with the carrier that is being used. To see our full shipping policy, please visit ourShipping PolicyPage.
What do I do if I receive damaged tiles?
What do I do if I receive damaged tiles?
Although we try to package our tiles so there is not damage, it is possible it can occur. All we ask is that you report any damage to us within 3 days of receiving your tiles. You can send us an email along with pictures of the damage tile. Please keep all shipping materials until your replacement tile has arrived. We will file a claim with the shipping company. If you have damage to a mesh mounted mosaic, lets say for example you have 3 sheets that has damage, we will ship you one sheet to cover the replacements. Since the mesh mounted sheet tiles can be cut or removed, they can easily be replaced when installing. On field or loose tiles, send us a picture of all the damage tiles, now remember some tiles can be used as cuts when you are installing and that can be part of your cut and waste percentage when figuring.
