The two materials share a look but very little else. Real terrazzo is poured and cured on site (or precast in slabs), then ground down and polished, which is a genuinely labor-intensive process that drives up both material and installation cost. Terrazzo look tile, by contrast, is manufactured porcelain, dense and non-porous straight out of the box, installed the same way any other porcelain tile would be, with no specialized crew or sealing required.
