Why Choose Starlike PRO Epoxy Grout?

Starlike PRO combines decorative color with the performance advantages of premium epoxy grout. What Happened to the Starlike EVO Colors?

One of the most common questions BELK Tile receives from longtime Starlike customers is, "Which Starlike PRO color replaces my old EVO color?"

The answer requires an important distinction.

Starlike PRO introduces a new color collection. Some new PRO colors have a similar appearance to former EVO shades, but similar does not mean identical.

For example, Starlike PRO 04 Pomice di Lipari is similar in appearance to former Starlike EVO 105 Bianco Titanio, while Starlike PRO 12 Nero Antico is similar to former EVO 145 Nero Carbonio. These comparisons are intended to help narrow your choices rather than guarantee an exact color match.

Can Starlike PRO Match Existing Starlike EVO Grout?

You may be able to find a similar Starlike PRO color, but an exact match should not be assumed.

This becomes particularly important when repairing an existing installation or extending tile into an adjoining area. Differences in the new formulation, age of the existing grout, lighting, tile color, grout joint width, installation conditions, and surrounding finishes can all affect the final appearance.

If new PRO grout will be installed directly next to existing EVO grout, compare the actual colors before completing the project.

How to Choose a Starlike PRO Grout Color

Grout color can dramatically change the appearance of a tile installation. Instead of automatically choosing the color closest to your tile, first decide whether you want the grout to blend, define, or contrast.

Blend the Grout With Your Tile

Choose a grout color close to the dominant tile color when you want the grout joints to become less noticeable.

This approach works particularly well with marble, marble look porcelain, natural stone, large format tile, monochromatic bathrooms, and installations where the tile itself should remain the primary visual feature.

Showers and Bathrooms

Starlike PRO is an excellent choice for shower walls, shower floors, niches, bathroom floors, and other wet areas because of its extremely low water absorption, stain resistance, and chemical resistance.

Water resistant epoxy grout does not replace the waterproofing system beneath shower tile. A properly constructed shower still requires an approved waterproofing assembly and proper drainage.

Kitchen Backsplashes

Kitchen backsplashes are another strong application for epoxy grout because the joints may be exposed to food splashes, oils, moisture, and frequent cleaning.

Does Starlike PRO Grout Need to Be Sealed?

Starlike PRO itself does not require routine penetrating grout sealer.

This is an important difference between epoxy grout and many conventional cement based grouts.

Natural stone or another tile material installed alongside the grout may still require sealing. Always consider the requirements of the tile separately from the grout.

Is Starlike PRO Waterproof?

Starlike PRO is designed to create highly water resistant epoxy grout joints with extremely low absorption, making it an excellent option for wet environments.

However, grout should never be used as a substitute for the required waterproofing system behind shower tile, pool tile, or other wet area installations.

Is Starlike PRO Stain Resistant?

Yes. Stain resistance is one of the primary reasons customers choose epoxy grout.

The low absorption of properly installed Starlike PRO helps prevent many common spills and contaminants from penetrating the grout in the way they can with more porous cement based products.

How Do You Install Starlike PRO Grout?

Starlike PRO is a two component epoxy system. Part B is combined with Part A and mechanically mixed using a low speed mixer until the material becomes smooth and homogeneous.

The grout is then packed completely into clean, dry grout joints using a suitable epoxy grout float. Excess material is removed from the tile, and cleaning begins while the epoxy is still fresh.

Proper mixing and timely cleanup are especially important when working with epoxy grout.
