Zellige Look Tile With the Consistency of Ceramic
The Manacor Series is designed to capture the irregular character associated with traditional Zellige tile while using a manufactured white-body ceramic construction. Instead of a perfectly flat surface and uniform color from piece to piece, Manacor uses variation, surface movement and a deep glossy finish to create a more handcrafted appearance.
That distinction is important. Manacor is Zellige-inspired ceramic tile, not handmade Moroccan Zellige. It gives you the visual direction of an artisan tile while offering two consistent formats that can be used throughout an interior wall design.
Written by Mike Belk, Tile Expert at BELK Tile.
What Makes Manacor Tile Different?
Manacor is not intended to create a perfectly uniform wall.
The surface has subtle undulation that changes how light strikes individual pieces, while intentional shade variation creates differences from tile to tile. The glossy crystalline surface adds another reflective layer, making portions of the installation appear lighter, darker or more pronounced as lighting and viewing angle change.
Those characteristics are part of the design. If you want every tile to appear perfectly flat and identical, Manacor probably is not the collection I would choose.
If you want a wall with variation, reflection and the character associated with handmade tile, that is where Manacor becomes interesting.
Manacor Tile Sizes
BELK Tile offers Manacor in two formats:
4 x 4 inch square
2.5 x 16 inch elongated rectangle
Both use the same Zellige-inspired design language, but they produce very different finished walls.
The 4 x 4 emphasizes individual tiles and creates a classic square grid. The elongated 2.5 x 16 introduces stronger horizontal or vertical lines and can also be used to explore more directional layouts.
Choosing between them is less about which size is better and more about how much movement you want the layout itself to contribute.
Manacor 4 x 4 Ceramic Tile
The 4 x 4 format is the more traditional choice if your goal is to emphasize the handmade Zellige look.
Each nominal 4 x 4 tile is approximately 3.94 x 3.94 inches. The smaller square format creates enough repetition for the shade variation, surface movement and glossy finish to become noticeable across the installation.
I particularly like the 4 x 4 format when the material itself is supposed to be the focal point. Instead of using an elaborate pattern, the color and changing reflections across the individual squares provide the visual interest.
Manacor 2.5 x 16 Ceramic Tile
The elongated 2.5 x 16 format takes the same surface character in a much more linear direction.
The actual nominal format is approximately 2.56 x 15.75 inches, with 38 pieces covering approximately 10.64 square feet per box. Because the tile is considerably longer than it is tall, orientation has a much stronger effect on the finished wall.
Run it horizontally for long continuous lines across a backsplash or shower wall. Turn it vertically when you want to emphasize height. More directional layouts can introduce additional pattern when appropriate for the space and installation.
The longer format feels contemporary, but the irregular surface keeps it from looking overly precise or mechanical.
Five Manacor Colors at BELK Tile
BELK Tile offers Manacor in five colors: Ocean Blue, White, Mercury Grey, Beige Argile and Blue Moon.
Each color interacts differently with the glossy, uneven surface, so I would look beyond the color name when making a selection. Lighting, surrounding finishes and the natural variation within the collection all influence the finished appearance.
Ocean Blue
Ocean Blue gives Manacor its deeper blue direction. The combination of saturated color, gloss and surface movement can make this one of the stronger statement choices in the collection.
I would consider it when you want the backsplash or shower wall to become a defining feature rather than simply a neutral background.
Blue Moon
Blue Moon moves toward a lighter and softer blue. It still provides color, but the overall effect can feel quieter than the deeper Ocean Blue.
This is a particularly useful direction for coastal, transitional and lighter bathroom or kitchen palettes where you want blue without making the wall overly dark.
White
White puts more emphasis on Manacor's surface rather than strong color.
Because the tile is intentionally not perfectly flat, light and shadow can create visible movement across an otherwise neutral wall. That makes White useful when you want the versatility of white ceramic tile without the appearance of a perfectly flat conventional subway tile.
Mercury Grey
Mercury Grey introduces a versatile gray direction that can coordinate with white, black, wood tones, stone and a wide range of fixtures.
The reflective surface keeps the color from feeling completely flat, while the shade and surface variation add depth across larger wall areas.
Beige Argile
Beige Argile brings warmth into the collection.
Its earthy beige direction works well with warm whites, cream, wood tones and natural-looking materials. If you like the handmade character of Zellige-inspired tile but want something warmer than white or gray, Beige Argile is the color I would look at first.
Manacor Kitchen Backsplash Tile
The kitchen backsplash is one of the best applications for Manacor because lighting is such an important part of this collection.
Windows, ceiling fixtures and under-cabinet lighting can all interact with the glossy, undulating surface differently. Instead of reflecting light uniformly, individual tiles can catch highlights and shadows at slightly different angles.
The 4 x 4 format creates a classic grid with more frequent grout lines, while the 2.5 x 16 format creates a longer and more directional appearance.
Consider the countertop before selecting your color. A heavily veined countertop may work better with one of the quieter Manacor colors, while a simple countertop gives Ocean Blue or another stronger color more room to become the focal point.

Manacor Tile for Shower Walls
Manacor can bring much more surface movement to a shower than a conventional flat ceramic wall tile.
The combination of gloss, variation and subtle relief becomes especially noticeable across a larger wall. You can use one size throughout the shower or use the geometry of the tile to establish the design direction.
For example, a vertically installed elongated tile can emphasize height, while the 4 x 4 format creates a more traditional repeating surface.
Manacor is an interior wall tile. It should not be assumed suitable for shower floors simply because it can be used on shower walls.
Also remember that ceramic tile and grout form the finished surface of the shower. They do not replace the required waterproofing system behind the tile.

Manacor Accent Walls
An accent wall gives the variation within Manacor more room to develop.
Across a larger surface, the differences in tone, gloss and relief become part of the overall composition rather than something you notice only when standing close to the tile.
This can work particularly well behind a vanity, bar area or other architectural feature where directional or natural light can reach the surface.
With a tile this reflective, I would think about lighting as part of the design rather than something considered after the tile is installed.
Manacor Fireplace Surrounds
Manacor can also be considered for approved interior fireplace surround and feature-wall applications.
The glossy surface and intentional variation can create an interesting contrast with the architectural geometry of a fireplace, particularly when the tile is carried across a larger surrounding wall.
Fireplace requirements vary by fireplace type and installation location. Always follow the fireplace manufacturer's clearance requirements and confirm that the substrate, setting materials and tile installation are appropriate for the specific application.
Understanding Manacor Shade Variation
Variation is one of the defining characteristics of this collection.
Do not judge a Manacor installation from one individual tile. Pieces can show differences in color intensity and surface appearance, and those differences become part of the completed wall.
Before installation, open multiple boxes and review the tile together. Dry laying or arranging pieces before setting them allows you to distribute lighter, darker and more visibly varied pieces across the wall rather than unintentionally concentrating them in one area.
The goal is not to eliminate variation. It is to distribute it intentionally.
Why Lighting Matters With Glossy Zellige Look Tile
Gloss changes considerably depending on the light around it, and an undulating surface makes that relationship even more noticeable.
Direct light can create stronger highlights. Side lighting can reveal the relief of the surface. Natural daylight can make variation appear differently than warm interior lighting.
That is one reason Manacor should be viewed in the actual room whenever possible.
A tile that appears relatively quiet in a sample display can become much more dynamic once an entire wall is installed under kitchen or bathroom lighting.
Choosing Between 4 x 4 and 2.5 x 16 Manacor Tile
If you want the most traditional Zellige-inspired direction, I would start with the 4 x 4.
The square format puts more attention on the individual pieces, color variation and irregular-looking surface.
Choose the 2.5 x 16 when you want those same characteristics combined with stronger directional lines. Horizontal layouts can make the wall feel wider, while vertical layouts can emphasize height.
There is no universally better format. The right choice depends on whether you want the surface character or the layout geometry to have the stronger visual role.
Choosing Grout for Manacor Tile
Grout color can significantly change how Manacor reads once installed.
A grout color closer to the tile allows the color, gloss and surface variation to remain dominant. More contrast outlines each individual tile and emphasizes the grid or layout.
That choice becomes especially noticeable with the 4 x 4 format because the repeated square pattern creates more visible joints across the wall.
The manufacturer recommends grout joints of at least 2 mm. Choose a grout system compatible with glazed ceramic wall tile and appropriate for the installation environment, particularly in showers and other wet areas.
Manacor Is an Interior Wall Tile
Manacor is white-body ceramic wall tile with water absorption characteristic of a BIII ceramic product. That construction is appropriate for its intended wall applications, but it should not be confused with porcelain or floor-rated ceramic.
Use Manacor for approved interior wall installations such as backsplashes, shower walls, accent walls and fireplace surrounds.
I would not position this collection as floor tile, shower floor tile, pool tile or exterior tile.
If your project requires one of those applications, choose a product specifically manufactured and approved for those conditions.
Order Manacor Samples Before Choosing a Color
I strongly recommend seeing Manacor in person before placing a full project order.
This is exactly the type of tile that photographs struggle to represent accurately. Gloss, surface undulation, shade variation and lighting all affect what you see.
Place the sample next to the actual countertop, cabinetry, fixtures, paint and other permanent materials in the room. Look at it during the day and again under the lighting you normally use at night.
For a collection built around variation, seeing several pieces is even more useful than evaluating one tile.
Shop Manacor Zellige Look Ceramic Tile at BELK Tile
Manacor combines the character of Zellige-inspired design with a manufactured ceramic wall tile available in two distinct formats.
Choose 4 x 4 when you want a classic square layout that emphasizes individual pieces and variation. Choose 2.5 x 16 when you want the same glossy, irregular-looking surface with longer directional lines.
Ocean Blue and Blue Moon bring two different blue directions. White keeps the palette neutral while emphasizing surface movement. Mercury Grey adds a versatile cool neutral, and Beige Argile introduces warmer earthy color.

Whichever color and size you choose, remember that variation is part of the design. Manacor is meant to create a wall with depth, reflection and individual character rather than a perfectly uniform surface.
