Aquatica Series Iridescent Glass Mosaic Tile
The Aquatica Series combines three design elements that make these mosaics distinctive: a soft diamond shape, an iridescent glass finish, and a mesh-mounted repeating pattern. Instead of the straight lines of a traditional square or subway mosaic, the curved diamond profile creates a softer geometric look across the finished surface.
Each individual glass piece measures approximately 2 1/4" x 1 1/4". The pieces are mounted on approximately 10 1/4" x 10 1/4" sheets containing 48 pieces and covering approximately 0.72 square feet per sheet.
The iridescent finish is an important part of the design. These mosaics can appear different as lighting and viewing angles change, so I recommend looking at a sample under the actual lighting in your kitchen, bathroom, or other installation area before making your final selection.
Three Aquatica Colors
Although the three Aquatica mosaics share the same basic shape and format, each color creates a noticeably different design direction.
Atlantis AQ-2005
Atlantis is the blue option in the collection. Its blue glass and iridescent surface create a stronger color statement and allow the mosaic to interact noticeably with surrounding light.
I would consider Atlantis when blue is intended to become an important part of the room rather than simply an accent hidden in the background. White, light gray, and other relatively simple surrounding materials allow the color and reflective finish to receive more attention.
Grey Scale AQ-2006
Grey Scale combines gray with white, blue, and deeper gray-blue tones. It gives you a cooler neutral palette while retaining the movement and variation that make the Aquatica Series distinctive.
This is a useful option when a solid gray mosaic feels too flat but a strongly colored mosaic would compete with the rest of the room. White and gray cabinetry, quartz countertops, brushed nickel, chrome, and other cool-toned finishes can all work naturally with this palette.
Glossy Spectrum AQ-2002
Glossy Spectrum moves the collection in a warmer direction with a mixture of brown and beige tones. The iridescent finish keeps those earthy colors from looking visually heavy by adding reflection and changing highlights across the mosaic.
I like this color direction with wood cabinetry, cream and beige surfaces, natural stone, and warmer metal finishes such as bronze or brass.
Why Iridescent Glass Looks Different in Every Room
An iridescent tile should not be selected by its base color alone.
The reflective surface can reveal different highlights depending on daylight, artificial lighting, viewing angle, surrounding colors, and even where you are standing in relation to the wall. A tile photographed under bright studio lighting may therefore look noticeably different when installed in your home.
For a kitchen backsplash, look at your sample during the day and again with the under-cabinet lighting turned on. For a bathroom or shower wall, view it under the lighting you normally use in that room.
This is one collection where seeing a sample in person can tell you considerably more than looking at a product photograph alone.
Where Can Aquatica Glass Mosaic Tile Be Used?
Aquatica mosaics are particularly well suited to decorative wall installations where the combination of shape, color, and reflected light can be appreciated.
Kitchen backsplashes allow the iridescent finish to interact with daylight and under-cabinet lighting. Shower walls can emphasize the pattern across a larger surface, while smaller feature areas can use the mosaic to introduce color and texture without covering an entire room.
Always check the specifications for the individual Aquatica color before ordering. A product being made from glass or belonging to the same collection does not automatically mean every color is approved for every possible application.
Choosing Grout for Aquatica Mosaic Tile
Grout color can change how strongly the soft diamond pattern appears.
A grout color relatively close to the mosaic can create a more blended overall surface. Greater contrast between the grout and tile can make the individual diamond shapes and repeating pattern more noticeable.
The right choice depends on whether you want the first impression to be the overall color and iridescent movement or the geometry of the mosaic itself.
Before installation, I recommend comparing the tile with the proposed grout rather than choosing grout independently from a chart or photograph.
