Shop Natural Stone Tile by Format
Marble Mosaic Tile
Marble is the most requested natural stone for tile applications, valued for its veining, its range of white, gray and warm tones, and its association with luxury interiors. Marble mosaic tile brings that material into mesh mounted sheets suitable for backsplashes, bathroom walls and floors. Browse the marble mosaic tile collection.
Natural Stone Mosaic
Beyond marble, this format covers travertine, limestone, slate and stone blend mosaics in chip, pebble, hexagon and brick patterns. Each material has its own color range and surface texture, from the warm earth tones of travertine to the cool gray and black tones of slate. Browse the natural stone mosaic collection.
Waterjet Mosaics
Waterjet cutting allows stone to be shaped into intricate curved and geometric patterns that traditional saw cutting cannot achieve. Waterjet stone mosaics are used for floor medallions, decorative borders and feature panels where the precision of the cut pattern is the design focus. Browse the waterjet mosaic collection.
Listello Trim
A listello is a decorative border strip used to frame a tile installation, separate two tile zones, or add a band of contrasting material within a larger field of tile. Natural stone listellos bring decorative trim detail to backsplashes, shower surrounds and bathroom floors. Browse the listello trim collection.
Why Choose Natural Stone Tile
Natural stone is quarried, not manufactured. Every slab and every tile carries the color variation, veining and mineral deposits that formed over geologic time, which means a natural stone installation has visual depth that no printed or glazed surface can fully replicate. This is both the appeal and the practical consideration of working with stone: the same product number from two different orders may show noticeable color variation, and the natural porosity of most stone types requires sealing that manufactured tile does not need.
For projects where material authenticity and long term value matter more than upfront convenience, natural stone remains the standard against which manufactured alternatives are measured. For porcelain tile that replicates the look of natural stone with lower maintenance requirements, visit the shop all tile collection.
Where Natural Stone Tile Works
Kitchen Backsplashes
Marble and travertine mosaic backsplashes are among the most requested kitchen upgrades for their visual warmth and material authenticity. Stone in a kitchen requires sealing to resist oil and food staining. For the full kitchen backsplash catalog, visit the kitchen backsplash tile collection and the backsplash blog.
Bathroom Walls and Floors
Natural stone is one of the most common materials for bathroom walls and floors, particularly marble and travertine, where the material's association with spa environments reinforces the design intent. Sealing is required before grouting and periodically thereafter, particularly in wet areas. For the bathroom tile catalog, visit the bathroom tile collection and the bathroom blog.
Floors
Natural stone floor tile, particularly travertine, limestone and slate, suits entryways, living spaces and outdoor patios where genuine material origin reinforces the design direction. Floor applications require verifying the PEI rating and slip resistance of the specific stone. For floor tile options, visit the floor tile collection and the floor blog.
Buying Basics for Natural Stone Tile
Sealing Is Required
All natural stone is porous to some degree and requires a penetrating sealer applied before grouting and reapplied periodically, typically every one to two years depending on use and exposure. This is the single most important maintenance difference between natural stone and manufactured tile. The tile surface itself benefits from sealing. The grout lines need it as well.
Expect Natural Color Variation
Order samples and, where possible, review the specific lot or batch before committing to a full order. Natural stone varies in color and veining even within the same product line, and that variation is part of the material's character rather than a defect. Order extra material from the same lot to account for future repairs, since matching a discontinued lot later is difficult.
Calculate Waste at 15 Percent
Natural stone, particularly mosaic and waterjet formats, typically requires a higher waste factor than manufactured tile because of cutting complexity and natural material variation. Use 15 percent as your standard waste factor rather than the 10 percent appropriate for most ceramic and porcelain tile.
Trade and Volume Pricing
Designers and contractors speccing natural stone for residential or commercial projects should contact our team directly for volume pricing and lot coordination. For more project guidance, visit the tile talk blog.
